| UN Agencies in Saudi Arabia Carry Several Activities on “Environment” in Commemoration of the UN day for 2007 – A Trip to Diriyya to Plant Trees |

The United Nations agencies that are represented in Saudi Arabia carried out various activities and events to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the United Nations. All activities came to highlight the issue of Environment in the Kingdom.
One activity was a trip to Al-Dariya by UN Officials and Captain Sami Al-Jaber to join 50 male students in planting trees.
UN Heads of Agencies in the Kingdom, Dr. El-Mostafa Benlamlih; UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, Dr. Abdallah Oihabi; Resident Representative for the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and Dr. Ayman Abu-Laban; United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Resident Representative, UN Official Representatives, and the United Nations Development Programme National Goodwill Ambassador Captain Sami Al-Jaber visited al Dariya on Sunday 11 November 2007, to plant trees with 50 male students coming from different schools in Al-Dariya.
Following that, the UN team together with the students who participated in the tree-planting activity visited Al-Dariya Province Headquarters to meet with Prince Ahmad bin Abdalla bin Abdurrahman Al-Saud, Governor of Al-Dariya Province and discuss issues related to development and environment.
