6 December 2006, Riyadh, On Friday 6 December 2006, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Sheikh Tarek Al-Juffali Foundation. The purpose of this MoU is to build a network to provide water for (Al-Madhaya) villagers in Jizan. Villagers there have had to rely on artesian wells 10 Kilometers away from their homes. The Project, managed by the Ministry of Water and Electricity, is fully funded by Sheikh Tarek Al-Juffali foundation. The Partnership between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Sheikh Tarek Al-Juffali Foundation falls well within the strategic goals agreed upon between UNDP and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to enhance national capacities in planning and implementing sustainable development. Sheikh Tarek Ahmad Al-Juffali foundation aims at community development through support to individuals, charity institutions and Non-Profit Organizations working in the field of health, food and housing. The Foundation has accomplished many projects in the kingdom and also in the Middle East and other areas of the world afflicted with natural disasters. Sheikh Tarek Ahmad Al-Juffali Foundation has committed to donate One Million US dollars annually to support various United Nations Projects around the world. Some of the recently accomplished projects include the Project of adopting schools from rural areas in Lebanon and the Roaming Clinic in Palestine's West bank.
