Sunday, 9 December 2007 UNDP, Prince Sultan University, and UNICEF hold a workshop on “Developing Young Women’s Leadership Skills” 10-12 December 2007, RiyadhThe United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with Prince Sultan University - Girls' College and in cooperation with the UNDP Regional Programme for Capacity Building in the Arab States, has successfully held the first workshop on "Young Women Leaders" in the Arab Region which aims at developing the leadership skills for young women. This workshop consisted one of many activities under the Memorandum of Understanding between UNDP Saudi Arabia Country Office and the UNICEF Sub-Regional Gulf Office that seeks to develop a full-fledged youth Programme in the Kingdom that goes in line with the national planning priorities.... Sunday, 11 November 2007 UNDP Saudi Arabia Holds a Workshop on Islamic Laws and Gender 12, 13 November 2007, Riyadh,UNDP Saudi Arabia has been carrying, since September 2006, a Gender Mainstreaming Initiative at the Country Office level using a gender mainstreaming trust fund from UNDP Headquarters. The office has taken several measures to mainstream gender into its programmes, projects, and activities at the national level. UNDP Saudi Arabia Country office is committed to making gender equality a reality because the gender gap remains a serious barrier to attaining human development as statistics show in the Arab Human Development Report 2005 “Towards the Rise of Women in the Arab World”. Saturday, 30 June 2007 UNDP Saudi Arabia Holds a Gender Sensitization Workshop for National Partners and UN Staff 1 July 2007, Riyadh, UNDP Riyadh Country Office successfully conducted a two-day workshop on Gender Sensitization. The workshop was attended by UN staff and national counterparts from governmental bodies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Supreme Commission for Tourism, and the Saudi Food and Drug Administration. It aimed at raising awareness on gender issues by providing ways to strengthen the foundations of gender in the frameworks of UNDP’s development projects and ensuring the integration of gender concepts into projects’ planning and implementing phases.
